Beer has been around for centuries and is one of the most sought-after drinks in the world. There are many different kinds of brews all over the globe, ranging from standard light beers to craft or specialty beers created by brewmasters from all over.

Some brewmasters are like scientists, craving notoriety and thinking innovatively to craft uniquely blended beers of the world. Some bizarre creations have come from such brewers–without further ado, here are some of the world’s most fascinating beers.

1. Whale Beer

Whale Beer, also known as Hvalur 2, comes from Brugghus Steoji, Iceland. The primary ingredient in this beer is whale testicles that are smoked in sheep feces–yes, seriously.

They even have a sour version available called Sour Whale Beer, cured with Kambucha. Hvalur 2 contains 5.2% alcohol and contains Icelandic water, berry hops, barley and the particular parts of a whale.

2. Snake Venom

Snake Venom beer is from a brewery called Brewmeister in Scotland and is known for its potency. It has an alcohol by volume (ABV) percentage of 67.5%, more than most liquor. Since it has such high alcohol content, it doesn’t have any carbonation like most beers, which gives it a distinct taste.

Brewmesiter recommends consuming Snake Venom in small portions like you would liquor due to its high ABV. You’ll likely need a hangover cure if you finish a whole bottle of this stuff.

3. Beer Geek Brunch Weasel

This Civet Beer, brought to you by Denmark, is made from a rare and expensive coffee. Civet or Weasel coffee is made from a civet cat’s droppings, which is much like a weasel.

Beer Geek Brunch Weasel from the Danish brewery Mikkeller is an imperial oatmeal stout beer that has a rich and distinguishing taste and is part of the Beer Geek Breakfast Series.

4. Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout

This distinct brew comes from Wynkoop Brewing Company in Colorado, right here in the US. Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout has a special ingredient they use to brew this concoction: the testicles of a bull–three per barrel, to be exact. This beer has an interesting taste of chocolate, coffee and nuts.

5. Elephant Beer

Un, Kono Kuro is a beer that a Japanese brewery called Sankt Gallen brews with elephant excrements. This elephant beer sold out within minutes of going on sale in Japan.

Although this beer doesn’t contain any chocolate, it is said to taste much like it. Sankt Gallen brewery uses Balck Ivory Coffee, which is very expensive since the coffee beans come from Thai elephant poop.

6. Ghost Face Killah

Ghost Face Killah by Twisted Pine Brewing Company in Denver, CO, is said to be the hottest beer in the world. Made from ghost peppers, which are hotter than jalapenos by far, Ghost Face Killah will light your mouth on fire rather than cool it off like most beers.

Twisted Pine Brewing named this beer after a Wu-Tang Clan rapper, Ghost Face Killah, without his consent. Fortunately for them, the Wu-Tang’s manager signed off on the beer, requesting them to send a couple of cases to New York.

Beers of the World

These beers of the world are dangerously different, but they have seemingly made their mark on society, like Japan’s elephant beer that sold out so fast. Brewmasters everywhere may want to take notes to step outside of the box for off-the-wall ingredients that might just work for their craft.
