A steelbook case or a small art book is a nice perk for a deluxe edition. A street-legal supercar and a speaking role in a feature film take it to a whole new level. Here are over-the-top editions that made the entire gaming world double-take.

1. God of War — Stone Mason Edition

God of War’s Stone Mason edition is a package worthy of a gaming god. For a franchise known for being one of the most vicious games in history, the edition’s 9″ statue of Kratos and Atreus shows Kratos’s shift from a vengeful god to a father who’s trying his best for his son. It also includes a steelbook case, a physical copy of the game, several small carvings, a talking keychain, a cloth map and a lithograph.

2. Dark Souls 3 — Prestige Edition

The Souls series is a benchmark for gaming difficulty, with all three core games ranking high in polls about the most challenging games in history. The Prestige edition of Dark Souls 3 rewards players before they even get started. It comes with a hand-painted statue of the Lord of Cinder and a Red Knight figurine, along with a steelbook case. Collectors also get a detailed art book, a CD with the game’s musical score, a cloth map of the in-game world and exclusive iron-on patches.

3. Assassin’s Creed: Origins — Dawn of the Creed Legendary Edition

Only 999 of this edition were ever made, and the sheer scale of the main collectible might be why — a 28.7-inch figurine of Bayek and his eagle Senu. The package includes a numbered certificate for authenticity, a gold steelbook case and a CD with the official game score. Items, like a wearable eagle skull amulet, an art book, a hand-drawn world map and large lithographs make it a treasure chest for the most hardcore of fans.

4. GRID 2 — Mono Edition

GRID 2 — Mono Edition broke the Guinness World Record as the most expensive video game package. For £125,000, the collector of this one-of-a-kind edition got a real, street-legal Bac Mono supercar decked out in GRID 2 livery. They also get a VIP tour at the BAC factory to custom-fit the car, made-to-measure racing gear, and gaming hardware and software.

5. Dying Light: The Following — Spotlight Edition

If you thought a supercar was the peak of video game excess, the Spotlight Edition of Dying Light: The Following earned the world record for being the most valuable video game bundle.

For $10 million, it opens doors to a new career. Key inclusions include a supporting role in the Dying Light feature film, stunt and acting training, a luxury filmmaking experience, voiceover work, and an off-road driving course.

What Will They Think of Next?

From the thematically brilliant to the outrageously expensive, these editions show exactly how wild the gaming industry can be. They make the wait for the next generation’s most jaw-dropping collectibles all the more exciting.
