We all know that the Pagani Huayra is a spectacular hypercar. It might just be the most technologically advanced hypercar out there today. If there was ever a time to take that car and make it better, Pagani just did it with the release of the Pagani Huayra BC.

Pagani Huayra BC Side

Unfortunately, the BC moniker doesn’t mean this car transcends space and time to take you back to the Stone Age. It doesn’t stand for better car, either. What it does reference is the company’s first ever customer: Benny Caiola. He was a New York City real estate tycoon and a late friend of Pagani founder Horacio Pagani. If my friend paid tribute to me by naming a badass supercar after me, I’d be beaming all the way from the great beyond. It was a sweet move on Pagani’s part.

A Lightweight Knockout

Anyway, here are the two things you need to know: It’s lighter and it’s more powerful. The Mercedes-AMG 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 stays, but Pagani increased the output to 789 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque. That’s up from 730 horsepower in the original Huayra.

The original was already light as a feather, weighing 2,976 pounds thanks to the magical powers of carbon fiber and titanium. The improved BC adds in even more carbon fiber and titanium mojo, shedding the weight down to 2,685 pounds. While the Pagani press release states that the car still uses tubular steel front and rear subframes and carbotanium monocoque, CarScoops reports rumors that it’s made of a mystery material that’s 20 percent stronger and 50 percent lighter than carbon fiber. Hmm …

What’s certain, though, is that compared to its similar hypercar rivals, it’s the lightest of the pack. How light, you say? It’s about a thousand pounds lighter than a Porsche 918. No biggie.

Extensive Features

The car will also keep the transverse seven-speed single-clutch automated manual found in the original Huayra. That’s not all – there are plenty of other new features to get excited about:

  • carbon fiber synchros
  • revised hydraulic actuation
  • a new electronic rear differential that is 40 percent lighter than the previous gearbox
  • 75 millisecond shifts
  • track mode for traction control
  • entirely new body panels – the roof is the only shared panel between the BC and the original
  • new tripod axle drive shafts
  • titanium exhaust that is 15 pounds lighter than the original Huayra
  • a huge aerodynamic wing
  • a splitter in the front
  • custom P Zero Corsa tires that shed weight but increase grip

Like most works of art that are worthy of the supercar designation, this will be a limited run from Pagani – only 20 BCs will be manufactured, and each will come with a $2.6 million price tag.

Pagani Huayra BC’s interior itself is worth at least a million bucks.

Consider the fact that Pagani has already sold out of the original run of 100 Huayras as of February 2015. If that doesn’t tell you just how amazing these cars are, maybe you should snag yourself a spot on the waiting list for the BC and see for yourself!
