Today, one of the hottest celebrity items for sale is the late Paul Walker’s Nissan Skyline, which is going for a cool $1.35 million.

Appraising the Rich and Famous

There are several different factors that determine how much celebrities’ belongings are worth. Perhaps unsurprisingly, an item will go for more money if it’s actually usable and is in good working condition. How popular the celebrity currently is, as well as whether or not the person is living, will also impact the value.

Obviously, a personal item belonging to one of the Beatles will be worth more money than one from a low-profile actor. Items that belonged to the deceased will also go for more as they’re more limited commodities — it’s not as if Elvis could come back from the dead and grow another lock of hair, but a living celebrity could. Finally, a belonging that’s newsworthy, famous by itself or has made headlines can also sell for more money.

Paul Walker’s Nissan Skyline GT-R is going for so much in a large part because it fulfills many of these conditions. The vehicle appeared in Fast and Furious 4, the 2009 installment in the hugely popular Fast and Furious film series. A German luxury car company called GT-A said the car has a cult status among fans, and it was priced accordingly.

The Nissan Skyline’s Specifications

The lucky buyer of the vehicle won’t just be getting any car. The Skyline GT-R is a souped-up racer with tons of high-end features. The exterior of the car features 19X11 Volk Racing RE30 Wheels, a Nismo Version II Bumper with side skirts and an ARC Titanium Strut Tower Bar.

For a Good Cause

You can rest easy if you think those who appraised the car so highly only did so in hopes of making a huge profit. Fifty percent of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW), Paul Walker’s charity. Paul Walker created ROWW, a volunteer organization that provides natural disaster relief, after being part of a team of responders to the Haiti earthquakes in 2010. Paul felt that there was a gap between the amount of people who needed relief and the resources being provided. ROWW consists of professionals with first-responder skill sets and aims to expedite relief efforts worldwide.
